Johnnie Walker
Matthew was born in 1981 in the Lake District. His family moved to Callander, by Stirling, when he was five years old.
He earned a degree in Applied Chemistry then a PhD in Physical Chemistry at University of Strathclyde, Glasgow which is where he's lived since 1999.
Matthew joined Diageo in 2007 in a laboratory analysis role at Technical Centre Europe and moved to the Whisky Specialist Team in 2008 working under Maureen Robinson and Jim Beveridge.
He is involved with new whisky blend innovation and consistency work on existing blends including Johnnie Walker Double Black and Johnnie Walker Black Label.
His interest is in maturation science and he delivers maturation seminars as part of the Malt Advocate course based at Lochnagar.
