As well as an Engineering qualification and a Diploma in Distilling, Andy has a wealth of experience from his 20 years working and managing distilleries and maltings across Scotland. Established in 1843, Glenmorangie Distillery is home to the tallest malt whisky stills in Scotland. Since joining Glenmorangie, Andy has overseen the recent large scale distillery expansion project where amongst other additions, the number of stills has increased from 8 to 12. This has provided an additional 50 per cent production capacity to meet the growing future demand for Glenmorangie single malt whiskies from existing and emerging markets in the USA, Far East and central Europe. Andy works alongside Dr. Bill Lumsden and the Whisky Creation Team at Glenmorangie in continuing to reveal delicious expressions of Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch whisky to delight and entice more and more consumers globally. Andy MacDonald was delighted to be appointed Glenmorangie Distillery Manager in July 2008. For him, working for such an renowned, innovative and forward thinking distiller as The Glenmorangie Company represented the most exciting opportunity in the industry. He leads the ‘Men of Tain,’ the highly skilled craftsmen entrusted with crafting the most delicious malt whisky in the world. Andy’s main responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day production of the dynamic and complex Glenmorangie spirit at the distillery, located on the shores of the Dornoch Firth in the Highlands of Scotland.
