Peat Smoke and Spirit
by Andrew Jefford
Not yet available anywhere else in the U.S.!
In Peat Smoke and Spirit, Islay's fascinating story is uncovered: from its history and stories of the many shipwrecks which litter its shores, to intimate descriptions of the beautiful wildlife, landscape and topography of the island. Interwoven through these different narrative strands comes the story of the whiskies themselves, traced from a distant past of bothies and illegal stills to present-day legality and prosperity. The flavor of each spirit is analyzed and the differences between them teased out, as are the stories of the notable men and women who have played such a integral part in their creation.

Johnson’s Whisky Tot
We’ve added a new single malt glass to our collection. Designed to fully capture whisky’s aroma and color, the inward curve above the bowl holds the aroma and the slight flare directs the bouquet to the nose, all the while giving the glass a refined appearance.
Designed by noted Scotch whisky authority David Johnson, the glass offers two hand-cut measuring lines to ensure the perfect serving. The lower line is cut at 1 oz. to measure the traditional dram while the upper line is cut at 5 oz., the traditional “gill.”
Even though the weight, balance and thinness of rim put this glass in the upper tier of world class stemware, it is durable enough to be used in restaurants, tasting rooms and wine bars. (Quantities are limited.) |
